Parliament suspended after uproar over Karu J statement

Parliament was suspended for 15 minutes a short while ago after a tense situation erupted when Government MP Susil Premajayantha again brought up the issue of the statement given by UNP Deputy Leader Karu Jayasuriya to a weekend newspaper. Both government and opposition MPs had caused an uproar leading to the speaker suspending the parliament.


Housing and Construction Minister Wimal Weerawansa on December 6 said that the government would bring a no confidence motion against Jayasuriya over his alleged statement to a weekend newspaper. Source by: ada derana
