The official online website www.defseminar.lk created for the three-day international seminar on "Defeating Terrorism - The Sri Lankan Experience" scheduled to take place from May 31 - June 02 was inaugurated by the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya yesterday (07). With the inauguration of this website the countdown to the seminar commenced.According to the Defence Ministry sources Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya briefing the media on the preparations for the seminar has said, "We have already received a good response from many countries and our ambassadors in those capitals are directly in touch with respective Armies for participation. 54 countries have been invited to the seminar. Both Sri Lankan Airlines and Colombo Galadari Hotel, the venue for the seminar are sponsoring this international event and the Army is grateful to both of them. The proceedings will receive a live web casting."
The Sri Lankan experience and the knowledge gained on counter insurgency and contributory factors related to the military defeat of the world's most ruthless terrorist organization in the world will be shared by the special panel delivering at this seminar, the first of its kind ever held in Sri Lanka by the Arm.
