SF misled by US-Wimal

Minister Wimal Weerawansa said that the United States was also responsible for misleading former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka.

Sarath Fonseka was enchanted by the US embassy in Colombo and was under an illusion that he was President even before the Presidential election was over.

Mr. Fonseka who sired Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe at first started to call him Ranil. What would have been the situation if he became the President?, a statement issued by the Ministry quoting Minister Weerawansa as saying in Ampara.

He however said as the Army Commander, Sarath Fonseka played a major role in defeating the LTTE. “He deserves our respect for that,” the minister said.
“However, if the President ordered a ceasefire, how could the Army Commander carry on military operations?

As we know the President was under pressure from many countries to do so, but he did not succumb to the pressure. Today the international community is attempting to take him to the International Judiciary.

It is quite obvious that it was the visionary leadership of the President that led to the defeat of terrorism. The President without harboring hatred over previous rivalry has decided to release Sarath Fonseka,” he said.
