A person in a boat in the Kirankulam seas was stopped on the beach by a soldier and when about to be checked he had grabbed the soldier’s weapon and fire at him. Two soldiers on duty nearby had overpowered the boatman, identified as Nallarathnam Mohan a LTTE leader for the Batticaloa region.
A Police team who rushed to the scene took the Tiger cadre who had suffered gunshot injuries into their custody. The soldier succumbed to his injuries, says the Sri Lanka Army.
Nallarathnam Mohan was found to be in possession of four passport photographs, an identity card, a cyanide capsule and Rs. 16,500 in cash. - (Sri Lanka Army) Source by: ada derana
