Lanka says accepts IMF loan in LOI- Minister

Sri Lanka has sent a letter of intent to the International Monetary Fund to accept a $1.9 billion loan, Deputy Finance Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said today.

When asked to confirm that the letter had been sent, Siyambalapitiya said: "Yes."

Earlier a government official, who declined to be identified, had said that the government had sent a letter of intent to the IMF in Washington.

"The letter of intent has been signed and sent," said the official. (Reuters)
