Prof. Anuradha Seneviratne is dead

Professor Anuradha Seneviratne has died this morning (July 09) after a brief illness while being treated at the Kandy General Hospital. Prof. Seneviratne was the head of the Sinhalese Unit of the University of Peradeniya.

He has authored some 70 books on social culture and history of the island. He has also served at Oxford and London Universitiesthrough a Commonwealth scholarship. He received the Kala Keerthi honour in 1994 and has been honoured by the Malwathu Maha Viharaya.

Prof. Seneviratne’s remains will lie at his residence in Katugastota and final rites will be held on Saturday, July 11. Source by : ada derana
