AUDIO: Expert Panel should not be allowed to enter the country - Wimal
If the Expert Panel, appointed by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to probe in to Sri Lanka’s so called human right violations is preparing visit Sri Lanka to carryout investigations, then they should not be given any space to do so, says Wimal Weerawansa.

The External Affairs Ministry previously was on this standpoint, they should continue with the same stand and that is his stand the Minister pointed out while speaking to Ada Derana regarding the possible arrival of the UN Expert Panel to Sri Lanka to meet the LLRC.

Weerawansa accused that the Non Governmental Organization mafia within the country is successful in creating any number of bogus witnesses as needed.

By allowing this panel to enter the country and prepare bogus reports by meeting fake witnesses it may create an opportunity for groups opposing the government to feed them false information and thereby assist to accomplish enemy objectives, he pointed out.

“In no manner should Ban Ki-moon’s three member committee be allowed to enter the country. If they are to enter as such then the entire country and the people should stand up against them in protest” the Housing and Engineering Minister sternly stated.

Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon in a media briefing yesterday had stated that the Expert Panel appointed by him plans to visit Sri Lanka and meet with the Lessons Learned and Reconciliation Commission appointed by the President.

He had also stated that the Panel will be able to visit Sri Lanka following a discussion held between himself and Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Source by : ada derana
