Sri Lanka -Windies ODI series begins today as scheduled

Sri Lanka Cricket this morning announced that there is no postponement of the scheduled five- match ODI series with West Indies.An official of the Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed that the today’s first match will be played at 2.30 PM at the new venue, Mahinda Rajapaksa International Play Ground at Suriyawewa in the Hambantota district.


This is the first match played in this new venue, being prepared ahead of the cricket World Cup to be jointly hosted by Sri Lanka as well.

Before the match there will be a soft opening of the ground with pirith chanting by Buddhist Monks and other religious rituals by the clergies of catholic, Hindu and Islamic faiths .

According to the schedule two of the five matches will be played at this new venue under flood light. Other matches will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium. This is the third cricket ground where facilities available for day and night match. Source By : news.lk
