The people of Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu and Oddusdan participated in a massive demonstration yesterday against LTTE elements in the UK who orchestrated anti-Sri Lanka protests in London earlier this week. Residents of Vishwamadu and Vallipuram were also among the protestors.
An unprecedented number of people attended the demonstrations, carrying placards against the LTTE and LTTE proxies in UK. A significant feature was the enthusiastic participation by women and children. The crowd burned effigies of Prabhakaran and Pottu Amman. They had cursed the remaining leaders and members of the LTTE rump living abroad. Traders also joined in the protest, closing their shops and hoisting black flags.
Many placards mentioned that President Rajapaksa brought them peace after wiping out the LTTE, which took their freedoms away and subjected them to untold hardships. "We are living in peace because of the President," the demonstrators said. "We sleep soundly because of you President Rajapaksa" was another slogan.
"Now our children go to school without any fear. They are learning and they have clear future. Nobody forcibly taking out our children as did by LTTE in past. We suffered a lot under LTTE control", one of the protesters came with her child said.
