‘Renew your licence’

The Motor Traffic Department today requested persons with old driving licence to obtain the new ones with biometric details of the holder such as the blood group and organ donations.Deputy Commissioner of the department Anuradha Wijekoon said old driving licence issued by the department had a tendency to fade and get discoloured very quickly and those problems had been rectified in the new licence.However, he said that it is not compulsory but requested the general public to come and make use of this opportunity, to obtain a new driving licence as it would be of immense help at a case of emergency.
