Priority for village development in the Economic War

http://www2.2space.net/images/upl_newsImage/1275990004.jpg Prime Minister D.M.Jayaratne said that it is the policy of the government to develop the village first and extend it to develop the country. Although the past governments neglected the villages this government has carried out large development projects on a village basis.


He said provision of electricity, concreting of roads, provision of drinking water supplies are among the major activities carried out for the development of the villages by this government, in order to raise the living standards of the rural masses.

Declare opening the Mawanella Provincial Council complex built at a cost of Rs. 97 million, the Prime Minister pointed out that the government has carried out its development activities inculcating a reawakening in all religions in the country. He said that the challenge of developing the economy can easily be achieved by developing the villages, and empowering the villagers.

The Prime Minister further said that it is the objective of the government to develop 100,000 villages and the participation of Provincial Council officials, Grama Niladaris and Samurdhi officials will be obtained for this development work.

The Senior Minister Athauda Seneviratne speaking at this function said that two industrial cities will be established in Kegalla shortly.(niz). Source by: news.lk
