Sri Lanka ranks among the top 9 Asia/Pacific countries for global IT sourcing. - Lanka Newspapers

World s leading information technology research and advisory company Gartner, Inc. (NYSE: IT) has ranked Sri Lanka among the top 9 countries in the Asia/Pacific Region for globally sourced activities in 2010-2011.

Sri Lanka was among the Top 30 locations for offshore services in 2010 in Asia being ranked by this firm and other countries in the Asia/Pacific region include Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.


This year the Top 30 countries are exclusively emerging nations, Ian Marriott, research vice president at Gartner said. As the pace of change is slower in developed countries we have chosen to focus on those locations that are still maturing and developing, domestically and internationally.

Sri Lankan IT Business circles are highly pleased by this World class ranking which outlines the potential of Sri Lankan IT/BPO Industry, the current export value of which at 390 millio U.S.$ per annum. It is the expectation of the government to develop this industry to earn U.S.$ 1 billion by 2015.
